The Department of Technical Studies, under the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, has the aim to educate engineers at the level of today’s technical knowledge in the areas of production and computer engineering, by combining new technologies and industrial practice. In addition to the basic technical, conventional and mechanical disciplines, the university is more and more focused on the study of new STEM technologies, and is aiming to emphasize the use of 3D printers, mechatronics, and robotics. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies are globally represented and are becoming one of the main tools for the development of functional prototypes in a wide-area of products, from the automotive industry, shipbuilding industry, buildings to the development of medical models. In addition to the great benefits of using, there are also disadvantages such as the size limit of printed models, the time of production and production time and the high cost of the material used. One way to optimize the threedimensional design process is to pair the robotic modules with added heads for FDM 3D print, which is also one of the scientific studies conducted at the Technical Studies Department.
